28 degrees this morning and I tried to ride to work.
The bike started fine with full choke, but after about
a minute of riding, it was really surging and then stalled.
Started rough and wouldn't stay running without lots of
throttle. I tried tickling the choke, but to no avail.
Didn't check the plug after that, but a week ago it was
a little carbon fouled. The reference chart said a possible
cause is dirty air filter; mine is filthy. I don't know
if the spacer has been removed, though I think the carb
has been taken apart. In general, I have to set the idle
kinda high (at least it's higher than I would like) to
keep it running once warmed up. Could a fresh air filter
solve these problems? If not, any other ideas?
Thanks,
Joe
